What does education REALLY mean to these kids?

Forced to flee your home, forced to relocate in the slums of the city. Your parents are very poor and often gone at work. sometimes they may be abusive or neglectful. too poor to attend school, and often alone, you resort to the street life. If you are a boy, you are highly likely to join gangs and get hooked on drugs. If you are a girl, you are highly likely to run around in abusive relationships and may even become a teenage mom. You are always hungry and often go days without eating. Your only hope for the future is that of your parents. When you are older, you may work a low paying job; long hours with little pay just to get by. This is the story of so many children across the world! There is a school in Columbia though, a very special school run by very special people. Pastor Jimmy and his wife started a school for internal refugee children. Many just think that this school only provides an education, but it does so much more. You see, by having the chance to go to school, these kids are less likely to have as much time to roam the streets, which means they are less likely to get into as much trouble as they would if they were left alone all the time. By having this school, these children get an education that they would otherwise not be able to have. That means they can have hope for getting a good, solid job when they are older. By going to this school, these children get a meal every day of school. They may not have eaten at all that day if it was not for this meal. Jimmy and Farly also sometimes buy the children clothes or gifts; they sometimes take them to do fun things such as fly kites or go to the park. Pastor Jimmy and his wife not only feed, educate, love and care for these children, but they also teach them about God. This is the most important thing! Without this school, these children might never know about God. They teach them holiness which is more important than all the rest. They are helping children who have been abused. They are showing them what love is, and how God can heal their brokenness. So you see, this school is so much more than JUST an education, it is a chance for a better life. Sure, some of these children may end up on the streets, sure, some of these children may walk away, but if this school can change the life of just one child, if this school can save just one child from all of that, isn't it worth it? Please remember this school, the children and their families, and Pastor Jimmy and his family in your prayers.
